Rain and Flood story from Darren

updated by mommy...

well..well, I have been introducing science to Darren since few months back and one day, I was explaning to him where the rain comes from..in a very child-like way, so that he can understand it...

"Rain comes from the cloud. When the clouds get too 'heavy', it pours down as rain."

Next, where does the clouds come from? He asked.

"The clouds come from the water on the ground. The hot sun shine down and the water get to 'evaporate' and go to the sky and form 'clouds'"

Water from the ground get 'evaporated'?? He didn't seems to understand. So I further explained in a simple way.

"Example, Kakak washes the clothes and hang it outside to dry. It was wet at first right? Ths sun dries the clothes and where does the water goes? It goes up to the sky and form clouds. Understand?"

He seems understand..good...I thought I did a good job.

Few weeks later, on our way back home in the evening, I told him we can't go to the park that evening because the sky looked dark and it is going to rain. He wasn't happy and asked,

"Kakak never wash clothes today wat..how come it will rain?"

Another incident. On our way back from gym and he saw the sky were dark and he told me,

"Mommy, I think it is going to rain later. I think kakak washed a lot of clothes today la. I don't want to go park already."

OMG...whenever we talked about raining, he only think about kakak washing clothes..

Lately, we have been talking about the Bangkok flood a lot. It was on the news and we showed him how the flood looked like and it was due to heavy rain and raining non-stop everyday.

Since it has been raining almost everyday lately, he always tell me this,

"Mommy..mommy... I think xxxx(the place where we stay) is going to flood soon."

"Mommy, mommy...if xxx is 'flooding', we can go to Ipoh. If Ipoh also flood, we then shift to Melaka. If Melaka also flood, we then drive to Singapore. If Singapore also flood, we then go to JB."

I asked, "If JB also flood, how?"

He answered, "We then come back xxx lor."

Kids..kids...always say the dardnest thing...
